Hour Blocking: The Secret to Effective Time Management

Hour Blocking: The Secret to Effective Time Management

Time management is an essential skill, and hour blocking is an easy and powerful way to master this skill. You can use it to block off hours in your schedule and get more things finished. It enables you to take control of the minutes in each day.

Follow this process to take advantage of this valuable technique:

  1. Start with planning. Make a list of all of your important tasks for the week. Then, narrow this list down to three to five essential tasks.
  • Be realistic about your planning. Avoid thinking that you can do a million tasks in one day or week.
  1. Block your hours. After you have a short list of tasks, block the hours on your schedule. This is called time blocking and essentially requires you to take each hour and assign a task or item to it.
  • Clump related tasks together and add them to specific blocks of time.
  • Remember to schedule lunches and breaks. Taking time to rest your mind and body is important! Your breaks allow you to get back to your tasks with renewed energy.
  1. Reduce distractions. Hour blocking demands that you eliminate distractions, so you don’t lose focus.
  • Figure out what your main distractions are. Do you waste time on social media or constantly check your phone? Do you spend hours in your email inbox and respond to every message instantly?
  • Eliminate or reduce these distractions. You may want to set aside a specific chunk of time each day to handle your social media, email inbox, and other tasks that distract you from your more essential actions.
  • Also, when you’re working, let others know that you’re busy so they can limit their interruptions.
  1. Keep the time blocks flexible. Unless you know the exact amount of time each task will take, it’s important to keep the time blocks flexible. This will also enable you to take care of other important things that come up with a minimum amount of stress or changes to your schedule.
  1. Review your time blocks regularly. Make adjustments as needed. If your tasks change, or you find that they take more or less time than you thought, modify your time blocks to take the new information into account.
  • Reviewing your time blocks will also give you the chance to see when you’re most productive. If you do your best work in the morning, schedule more important tasks during these hours. Reviews will help you evaluate your productivity levels and decide which parts need attention.
  • Another advantage of doing reviews is that it gives you the chance to see if your reminders are working or if they need to be changed. Use alerts on your phone or computer, sticky notes, or traditional alarms to remind you that it’s time to move to the next task. The key is to find something that works for you.

Effective time management can help you finish more tasks each day and feel more accomplished. Hour blocking is a useful method for anyone who is interested in greater productivity, either at home or at work.

8 Steps to an Amazing Life

8 Steps to an Amazing Life

As far as anyone knows, you only get to live once. So, you might as well make it as amazing as possible. You don’t have to settle for mediocrity and a life that fails to excite you. You have the power to create a life that fills you with joy, love, and enthusiasm. Everyone wants to have an amazing life, but you can be one of the few that actually accomplish it.

It’s important to identify what the term “amazing life” means to you. Your amazing life won’t be exactly like anyone else’s. It might be quite different from society’s view on the matter.

Claim your right to live an amazing and exciting life:

  1. Brainstorm your amazing life. You’re more likely to have an amazing life if you have an idea of what your amazing life looks like. Take a couple of days and consider all the possibilities. Consider every aspect of your life:
  • Social circle
  • Romantic relationship
  • Finances
  • Career
  • Health
  • Hobbies
  • Location
  • Accomplishments. You can do some pretty amazing things over the course of your life, but you can’t do everything. Prioritize.
  1. Get rid of everything that is unnecessary. Avoid unnecessary distractions and responsibilities. You probably have several things requiring time and space in your life that don’t provide an adequate return. Get these things out of your life.
  2. Accumulate resources. Making big changes in your life is stressful. However, changes are a lot less stressful if you have plenty of supportive people in your life and money in your bank account. Think of what you need to move your life forward. Focus on accumulating these things.
  3. Get started. Nothing happens until you start doing something. You might need some time to plan and prepare, but time is passing by. It’s important to get started. You can fine tune your approach after you begin receiving feedback from your efforts.
  4. Deal with negative emotions. Negative emotions are some of the most powerful things in the universe. They can stop you from ever pursuing your ideal life in the first place. Negative emotions can also slow your progress considerably.
  • Use one or more of the many tools available to you: counseling, positive thinking, meditation, hypnosis, prayer, or any of the other psychological techniques that exist today.
  1. Raise your standards. You’ll never make a million dollars in a year if you’re satisfied with making $200,000. You’ll never lose those last 20 pounds if you’re okay with carrying them around for another decade. Accepting mediocrity is par for the course, but it’s not compatible with living an amazing life.
  2. Be flexible. Be committed to your goals, but flexible in your approach. You’ll find yourself presented with some interesting opportunities. Some of those opportunities might provide a highway to achieving your amazing life. Keep an open mind.
  3. Be persistent. There will be plenty of obstacles along the way. Are you going to allow them to derail your efforts? You’ll have bad days. There will be times you lose hope. It’s important to keep moving forward. You can overcome any obstacle if you’re motivated enough and don’t give up.

If your life isn’t as amazing as you’d like, it’s time to take matters into your own hands. Create a target, remove the distractions from your life, manage your negative emotions, and never give up. This is the recipe for success for any goal you may have.

Avoid settling for an average life. You can be and experience so much more!

5 Good Reasons To Find Your your “Why”

5 Good Reasons To Find Your your “Why”

There are quite a few reasons to find your life purpose, your “why”, your reason for getting up in the morning and doing what you do. Finding your life purpose can be a powerful thing and it goes well beyond the satisfaction of knowing you’re doing something worthwhile. Let’s take a look at five different good reasons to spend the time to find your “why”. Find your life purpose.

You’ll Feel Less Stressed

How much mental energy and worry do you spend trying to figure out what you should or could be doing each day? When your “why” is clear in your mind, you don’t have to worry about that any longer and feel less stressed.

But there’s more to it than that. When we aren’t following our passion and purpose, we aren’t happy with what we’re doing and with that comes added stress. It’s no wonder that you’ll feel calmer and more relaxed about what you do and life in general when you know where you’re going.

You’ll Get More Done

Time flies when you’re having fun and it slows down to a crawl when you aren’t. Along the same lines you get a lot more productive and get through your workload in a lot less time when you have a purpose and are passionate about what you’re doing.

I’m sure you’ve noticed this in your daily life. When you’re working on something you enjoy or something that’s important to you, the work almost seems to do itself. You don’t even notice how long or how hard you’ve been at it.

You Do A Better Job

Not only do you get things done faster, you do everything you can to learn more and get better at what you love to do. As a result you do a much better job. Now there’s a great reason to find your why and follow your life purpose.

7 Simple Questions That Will Free Your Time

7 Simple Questions That Will Free Your Time

We all have too many priorities and too little time to do them justice. You can create more free time in your life by asking yourself a few questions. Questions are powerful, because they focus your attention and generate solutions. You just have to ask the right questions!

Ask yourself these questions and create more space in your life:

  1. What are my three greatest distractions? The most common distractions and time wasters are often electronic in nature. Your cell phone, laptop, and the television can leave you wondering where the time went. Other distractions might include an annoying neighbor, an organization that requires too much of your time, or frequent headaches.
  • Think of ways to eliminate or minimize these distractions and spend your time in a more meaningful way.
  1. Am I making the best use of the free time I already have available? When you do have free time, how do you use it? Consider both the small blocks of time you have available throughout the day and the larger segments of time that you have free.
  • If you’re waiting for a meeting to start, how do you use that time?
  • Are you using your time in the car as productively as possible? You could use the time to make phone calls or listen to educational programs.
  • Examine all the spare time you have each day and resolve to use it more productively.
  1. What are the three greatest distractions I have at work? An overly chatty cubicle mate might be neutralized with headphones. You can turn off the ringer on your phone. Think of the distractions you face and create solutions.
  1. What are my priorities? Make a list of your work and personal priorities. You can’t focus your time if you’re unaware of your priorities. You can focus your attention by reminding yourself of your priorities each day.
  2. What are the optional activities in my life? Make a list of everything you do in your life that’s optional – from watching TV to playing softball on the weekends. Some of those activities add to your life in meaningful ways, while others do not. Which of those activities are you willing to give up to create more space in your life?
  3. How can I simplify my life? How many blogs, magazine subscriptions, and podcasts do you follow? Are they all worth the time?
  • How often do you check your email? Is that more often than necessary?
  • Can you hire someone to mow your grass or clean your home?
  • Can you get rid of a few possessions that are taking up time and space in your life?
  1. What would I do if I had more free time? How would you spend that time? With whom would you spend it? If you can identify how you want to spend your free time, you might become more motivated to create more free time in your life.

Are you lacking enough time to enjoy your life? It’s time to set priorities and reduce distractions.

Decide what is most important to you. Then determine how you’re using your time inefficiently. Ask yourself the important questions that will allow you to make meaningful changes. Free up your time for your priorities. You’ll be glad you did!

Life Purpose

Following Your life Purpose Isn’t Always Easy – But It Is Well Worth It

You need to find your life purpose, they say…

You need to follow your life passion, they say…

You need to determine your “why”, they say …

But sometimes it isn’t all that easy. It’s not easy to figure out exactly what your “why” is. Sometimes we feel stuck and we’re not even sure what our purpose and passion are, let alone follow them.

And sometimes we know exactly what we would like to be doing, but circumstances don’t allow it. There are bills to be paid, a family to take care of, and that company-funde
d health insurance sure comes in handy with a couple of rambunctious toddlers in the house.

What do you do in either of those situations? The first thing you do is take your time. As important as finding your purpose is, it isn’t something you need to rush into. Take the time to examine who you are, what you’re good at and who you could help or sever. Who are the people that could benefit from your unique set of experiences and qualifications? What do you feel called to?

Once you know what your calling or your purpose is, start planning the rest of your life around it. That doesn’t mean you need to hand in your two week notice. Instead, learn as much as you can about turning your passion or your calling into something that will also pay the bills. Maybe that means looking for a different job. Maybe that means going back to school. Maybe that means figuring out how to run your own business.

Start slow and work on things part-time. Set aside some money as a safety cushion while you make the switch. Then, and only then, go ahead and start moving towards your calling.

Yes, it’s a lot of change and it can seem daunting at first. Don’t let that intimidate you. Just take it one step at a time, keep your eye on the goal, and you’ll get there before you know it. And believe me, it will be well worth in the end.

Once you make the switch and go through all the scary changes and challenges that following your purpose brings with it, you’ll be more satisfied with where your life is going and how you’re choosing to spend your time. In other words, you’ll be happier and that is a worthy end goal, isn’t it?

Do What You Love – Love What You Do

Do What You Love – Love What You Do

When you get up in the morning you have a choice. You can look forward to the day ahead, or you can dread it. And much of that choice depends on how much you like what you’re getting ready to do for the next 16 hours before it’s time to hit the hay again.

Of course we’re not going to love everything we end up doing during the day (I don’t know many of us that look forward to cleaning the bathroom), but you should be able to find some things to look forward to. And the more of that you can work into your life, the more fulfilled and happy you’ll be.

Love What You Do For A Living

Is your job something you look forward to, or something you dread? If you’re not having fun and enjoy what you’re doing (most of the time… we all have bad days), it may be time to look into a career change. No amount of money is worth being miserable and it’s hard to enjoy life and love who you are when you hate much of what you’re doing each day. Instead find something you can get behind and be passionate about. Make a living while making a difference and fulfilling your purpose in life.

Do What You Love Around The House

Our home holds special place in our heart. It’s our safe place, where we raise our kids and rest our head at night. It should be a place we enjoy spending time in. It should be a property we are proud to own something we enjoy taking care of. In other words, our home should be our sanctuary.

Take a look around you. What do you love about your home? What don’t you love particularly? What can you do about that? Start small, but start to improve your surroundings. Moving into your dream house overlooking the ocean may not be an option right now, but you can paint your living room walls and hang up a pretty beach painting. Turn your home into a place you love.

Do What You Love – a.k.a. Hobbies

Even if you are in a situation where you can’t do much about your job or your house, there are other ways to incorporate what you love into your day. Find something you enjoy doing. It could be gardening, curling up with a good book, playing golf, photography, knitting… it doesn’t matter what it is as long as it is something you love and enjoy. In other words, find a hobby and make sure you make some time for it in your busy day and week.

Dare to be Original

Dare to be Original

It’s not easy to be yourself. It takes awareness and authenticity. At home, you can relax, but once you go out that door, it’s a whole other matter. You feel the need to behave and dress a certain way. You’re less open with your preferences and opinions, especially when dealing with strangers. It’s not easy to be original.

All during your school years, there’s immense pressure to fit in. Those that are original are fodder for bullies in the educational system.

But as an adult, there is much to be gained if you dare to be original.

Secretly, we all admire those brave enough to be themselves. Many of the most creative people are the most highly valued. You don’t get to become a CEO, or successful actor, musician, or artist without the courage to be yourself.

There are many benefits to being original, both professional and social!

Feel better about yourself and enhance your life by daring to be original:

  1. Rely on your instincts and intuition. Two things that makes you original are your instincts and your intuition. They are yours and yours alone. Both are based upon your unique experiences and view of the world. Anytime you learn something new, you’re affected. That knowledge influences your perspective.
  • Start small and rely on your gut to make small decisions for you. Try going for a drive and allow your intuition to guide you. Take the turns in the road that just “feel” right to you.
  • Trust your gut when you lack sufficient information.
  1. Change your clothing. Do you dress the way you prefer, or do you dress to fit in or to impress others? This isn’t a suggestion to wear a miniskirt or a purple suit to your bank job, but outside of work, you’re largely free to do as you please. Dress to impress yourself.
  • Be more flexible with your hairstyle and facial hair, too.
  1. Share your opinions openly. There’s no reason to tell your office mate that her new hairstyle reminds you of a housewife from the 50’s. However, you can freely share your opinions on less personal things. Be open regarding your taste in movies, music, food, and other similar topics. Allow others to see the real you.
  1. Be kind to those that are brave enough to be original, too. If you’re critical of others, you’ll be afraid of receiving the same treatment. This will stifle your freedom to be yourself. That acquaintance with the green hair, eight cats, and smells like potpourri? Be accepting.
  2. Be willing to make mistakes. Make decisions as wisely as possible, but make them and do your best. If you’re afraid of making mistakes, you’ll never be original.
  3. You have nothing to lose. The late Steve Jobs stated, “Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”
  • In 100+ years, there will no one left on Earth that ever saw you or spoke to you in the flesh. There’s no reason not to be yourself and enjoy the time you have.
  1. Spend more time with your best friends. Part of the reason you like those people so much is your ability to you be yourself around them. It’s refreshing, and you feel better about yourself. So, why not spend more time with them? You might develop the habit of being yourself.

Isn’t it time be your true self? You’ve been living as a shadow of yourself for too long. Realize that life is short and being anything other than your true self is being less than you can be. Be brave and show the world who you really are.

Heal broken heart energy

Ouch! How do you heal a broken heart or heart trauma? Ever have an emotional trauma that hit you like a harpoon in the chest? Or maybe you are just extremely empathic and you dodge these daggers daily?

Here is this goddess’s recipe for healing a broken heart chakra.

Heal your broken heart with Energy Medicine www.askaeriol.com

Heal your broken heart with Energy Medicine
www.askaeriol.com

You are going to want to get yourself some support if you have had any major stress or emotional trauma whether it is heart related or not. Here are my favorite remedies for heart related emotional trauma’s.

Aromatherapy: I use Aromatherapy in my practice to heal and support the emotional body. Flowers are the Diva’s of nature. And let me just say, never underestimate the emotional clearing power of a targeted Diva!  Aromatherapy is nature’s little pick me up. Much more than just a wafting scent, these tiny plant life force molecules are so small that they absorb directly into the bloodstream and penetrate the blood brain barrier for an instant boost when you need it. Call on the goddess energy Maeve to help in this area. For shock or heart trauma I may use helichrysum to help with the shock and I also like Young Living Harmony Blend to calibrate and soothe the etheric energy bodies. If there is physical pain or tightness in the chest I might put just a tiny drop of jasmine to smoothe out the rough edges.

On a completely random aside: I recently got a humidifier and aromatherapy unit that plugs into my car! no more dry sinuses or empathic road rage and energy trauma while driving YAY!

Energy Medicine: Call in your Angels Masters and guides to assist you on an energetic level. I recommend getting some Hand’s On energy work perhaps integrated with massage by a trusted practitioner. Regardless of what modality your Practitioner uses nothing beats the nurturing and nourishing power of touch when our heart is wounded or hurting.

SELF CARE: As previously stated while you can do energy work and cultivate a daily practice, it is also important to seek an intuitive coach and healing practitioners to address any pain in the physical body.  Make sure to get a massage, get some nutritional support, see your chiropractor and or acupuncturist. Have an on the ground team and call on them frequently just as you would call on your angelic healing team.

Well, that’s all for today. Happy Healing. Please practice Radical Self Care during these crazy times when fear and anger is rising. Remember, only love is real.

I want to invite you to join my Facebook Group “Energy Activism Radical Self Care for a Better World” to get hot tips on Self Care and how to use energy healing to make the world a better place.

thanks!
