Hour Blocking: The Secret to Effective Time Management

Hour Blocking: The Secret to Effective Time Management

Time management is an essential skill, and hour blocking is an easy and powerful way to master this skill. You can use it to block off hours in your schedule and get more things finished. It enables you to take control of the minutes in each day.

Follow this process to take advantage of this valuable technique:

  1. Start with planning. Make a list of all of your important tasks for the week. Then, narrow this list down to three to five essential tasks.
  • Be realistic about your planning. Avoid thinking that you can do a million tasks in one day or week.
  1. Block your hours. After you have a short list of tasks, block the hours on your schedule. This is called time blocking and essentially requires you to take each hour and assign a task or item to it.
  • Clump related tasks together and add them to specific blocks of time.
  • Remember to schedule lunches and breaks. Taking time to rest your mind and body is important! Your breaks allow you to get back to your tasks with renewed energy.
  1. Reduce distractions. Hour blocking demands that you eliminate distractions, so you don’t lose focus.
  • Figure out what your main distractions are. Do you waste time on social media or constantly check your phone? Do you spend hours in your email inbox and respond to every message instantly?
  • Eliminate or reduce these distractions. You may want to set aside a specific chunk of time each day to handle your social media, email inbox, and other tasks that distract you from your more essential actions.
  • Also, when you’re working, let others know that you’re busy so they can limit their interruptions.
  1. Keep the time blocks flexible. Unless you know the exact amount of time each task will take, it’s important to keep the time blocks flexible. This will also enable you to take care of other important things that come up with a minimum amount of stress or changes to your schedule.
  1. Review your time blocks regularly. Make adjustments as needed. If your tasks change, or you find that they take more or less time than you thought, modify your time blocks to take the new information into account.
  • Reviewing your time blocks will also give you the chance to see when you’re most productive. If you do your best work in the morning, schedule more important tasks during these hours. Reviews will help you evaluate your productivity levels and decide which parts need attention.
  • Another advantage of doing reviews is that it gives you the chance to see if your reminders are working or if they need to be changed. Use alerts on your phone or computer, sticky notes, or traditional alarms to remind you that it’s time to move to the next task. The key is to find something that works for you.

Effective time management can help you finish more tasks each day and feel more accomplished. Hour blocking is a useful method for anyone who is interested in greater productivity, either at home or at work.

8 Steps to an Amazing Life

8 Steps to an Amazing Life

As far as anyone knows, you only get to live once. So, you might as well make it as amazing as possible. You don’t have to settle for mediocrity and a life that fails to excite you. You have the power to create a life that fills you with joy, love, and enthusiasm. Everyone wants to have an amazing life, but you can be one of the few that actually accomplish it.

It’s important to identify what the term “amazing life” means to you. Your amazing life won’t be exactly like anyone else’s. It might be quite different from society’s view on the matter.

Claim your right to live an amazing and exciting life:

  1. Brainstorm your amazing life. You’re more likely to have an amazing life if you have an idea of what your amazing life looks like. Take a couple of days and consider all the possibilities. Consider every aspect of your life:
  • Social circle
  • Romantic relationship
  • Finances
  • Career
  • Health
  • Hobbies
  • Location
  • Accomplishments. You can do some pretty amazing things over the course of your life, but you can’t do everything. Prioritize.
  1. Get rid of everything that is unnecessary. Avoid unnecessary distractions and responsibilities. You probably have several things requiring time and space in your life that don’t provide an adequate return. Get these things out of your life.
  2. Accumulate resources. Making big changes in your life is stressful. However, changes are a lot less stressful if you have plenty of supportive people in your life and money in your bank account. Think of what you need to move your life forward. Focus on accumulating these things.
  3. Get started. Nothing happens until you start doing something. You might need some time to plan and prepare, but time is passing by. It’s important to get started. You can fine tune your approach after you begin receiving feedback from your efforts.
  4. Deal with negative emotions. Negative emotions are some of the most powerful things in the universe. They can stop you from ever pursuing your ideal life in the first place. Negative emotions can also slow your progress considerably.
  • Use one or more of the many tools available to you: counseling, positive thinking, meditation, hypnosis, prayer, or any of the other psychological techniques that exist today.
  1. Raise your standards. You’ll never make a million dollars in a year if you’re satisfied with making $200,000. You’ll never lose those last 20 pounds if you’re okay with carrying them around for another decade. Accepting mediocrity is par for the course, but it’s not compatible with living an amazing life.
  2. Be flexible. Be committed to your goals, but flexible in your approach. You’ll find yourself presented with some interesting opportunities. Some of those opportunities might provide a highway to achieving your amazing life. Keep an open mind.
  3. Be persistent. There will be plenty of obstacles along the way. Are you going to allow them to derail your efforts? You’ll have bad days. There will be times you lose hope. It’s important to keep moving forward. You can overcome any obstacle if you’re motivated enough and don’t give up.

If your life isn’t as amazing as you’d like, it’s time to take matters into your own hands. Create a target, remove the distractions from your life, manage your negative emotions, and never give up. This is the recipe for success for any goal you may have.

Avoid settling for an average life. You can be and experience so much more!

5 Easy Ways to Create Joy Today

5 Easy Ways to Create Joy Today

Joy doesn’t have to be hard to manifest in your life. You can create it by making a conscious effort to have more happiness.

Joy is an important mindset. It’s not just about what happens to you. Your reactions to events, circumstances, people, and situations are part of it. Joy may feel impermanent or fickle, but you can attract it and make it more stable.

Create more joy in your life:

  1. Make a change. Whether you’ve always wanted to learn how to play the piano or take a professional cooking class, you can make changes in your life that lead to joy.
  • Avoid allowing fear to stop you from making changes.
  • Joy tends to be on the other side of fear. Can you imagine how you’ll feel when you finally take the class you’ve always wanted? Can you imagine how you’ll feel when you switch careers to something you love?
  • The change doesn’t have to be huge. You can take small steps toward your dreams.
  • Realize that your happiness depends on you. You can’t expect your life to get better by doing nothing every day. So make a change to take you in the direction you wish to go.
  1. Learn gratitude. It’s easy to focus on the day-to-day stress and lose sight of the simple things that you’re thankful for.
  • Make a list or keep a journal of all the good things in your life. Review it each day. This will help you find peace and joy on a daily basis. You’ll see that your life isn’t made up of just negative moments.
  • Your gratitude list can include ordinary things such as having a home, a bed, or a breakfast every morning. The key is to focus on the areas of your life that make you feel happy.
  1. Make a happy board. Similar to a vision board, a happy board is filled with things that make you happy – right now – rather than goals that you’re working toward.
  • For example, if the beach is one of your favorite places, fill your happy board with images of beaches.
  •  You can make it on paper or design it online.
  • The key is to use the space to add things that bring joy to your life. This can act as a manifesting agent and help you get more of the things you love.
  1. Stop the flaw focus. One of the things that hurts your ability to have more joy is a focus on your flaws.
  • This applies to both internal and external influences. If others are concentrating on your flaws, then it’s time to move on and find new friends. Likewise, if you’re paying too much attention to your own flaws, then it’s time to change your mindset.
  • Practice love and acceptance each day. Recognize your flaws without focusing on them.
  1. Forgive yourself. You can’t experience happiness if you’re constantly blaming yourself and making yourself feel awful. It’s important to learn how to forgive yourself to have joy.
  • Learn to let go of the guilt and shame that has built up in your life. Negative situations come up for everyone. Consciously avoid dwelling on them.
  • Practice forgiveness and stifle your inner critic for good. View forgiveness as a way to use self-care on a daily basis.

Joy doesn’t have to be a fleeting moment you feel on occasion. Let joy be a bigger part of your daily existence. Use these strategies and enjoy your life.

5 Good Reasons To Find Your your “Why”

5 Good Reasons To Find Your your “Why”

There are quite a few reasons to find your life purpose, your “why”, your reason for getting up in the morning and doing what you do. Finding your life purpose can be a powerful thing and it goes well beyond the satisfaction of knowing you’re doing something worthwhile. Let’s take a look at five different good reasons to spend the time to find your “why”. Find your life purpose.

You’ll Feel Less Stressed

How much mental energy and worry do you spend trying to figure out what you should or could be doing each day? When your “why” is clear in your mind, you don’t have to worry about that any longer and feel less stressed.

But there’s more to it than that. When we aren’t following our passion and purpose, we aren’t happy with what we’re doing and with that comes added stress. It’s no wonder that you’ll feel calmer and more relaxed about what you do and life in general when you know where you’re going.

You’ll Get More Done

Time flies when you’re having fun and it slows down to a crawl when you aren’t. Along the same lines you get a lot more productive and get through your workload in a lot less time when you have a purpose and are passionate about what you’re doing.

I’m sure you’ve noticed this in your daily life. When you’re working on something you enjoy or something that’s important to you, the work almost seems to do itself. You don’t even notice how long or how hard you’ve been at it.

You Do A Better Job

Not only do you get things done faster, you do everything you can to learn more and get better at what you love to do. As a result you do a much better job. Now there’s a great reason to find your why and follow your life purpose.

Dare to be Original

Dare to be Original

It’s not easy to be yourself. It takes awareness and authenticity. At home, you can relax, but once you go out that door, it’s a whole other matter. You feel the need to behave and dress a certain way. You’re less open with your preferences and opinions, especially when dealing with strangers. It’s not easy to be original.

All during your school years, there’s immense pressure to fit in. Those that are original are fodder for bullies in the educational system.

But as an adult, there is much to be gained if you dare to be original.

Secretly, we all admire those brave enough to be themselves. Many of the most creative people are the most highly valued. You don’t get to become a CEO, or successful actor, musician, or artist without the courage to be yourself.

There are many benefits to being original, both professional and social!

Feel better about yourself and enhance your life by daring to be original:

  1. Rely on your instincts and intuition. Two things that makes you original are your instincts and your intuition. They are yours and yours alone. Both are based upon your unique experiences and view of the world. Anytime you learn something new, you’re affected. That knowledge influences your perspective.
  • Start small and rely on your gut to make small decisions for you. Try going for a drive and allow your intuition to guide you. Take the turns in the road that just “feel” right to you.
  • Trust your gut when you lack sufficient information.
  1. Change your clothing. Do you dress the way you prefer, or do you dress to fit in or to impress others? This isn’t a suggestion to wear a miniskirt or a purple suit to your bank job, but outside of work, you’re largely free to do as you please. Dress to impress yourself.
  • Be more flexible with your hairstyle and facial hair, too.
  1. Share your opinions openly. There’s no reason to tell your office mate that her new hairstyle reminds you of a housewife from the 50’s. However, you can freely share your opinions on less personal things. Be open regarding your taste in movies, music, food, and other similar topics. Allow others to see the real you.
  1. Be kind to those that are brave enough to be original, too. If you’re critical of others, you’ll be afraid of receiving the same treatment. This will stifle your freedom to be yourself. That acquaintance with the green hair, eight cats, and smells like potpourri? Be accepting.
  2. Be willing to make mistakes. Make decisions as wisely as possible, but make them and do your best. If you’re afraid of making mistakes, you’ll never be original.
  3. You have nothing to lose. The late Steve Jobs stated, “Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”
  • In 100+ years, there will no one left on Earth that ever saw you or spoke to you in the flesh. There’s no reason not to be yourself and enjoy the time you have.
  1. Spend more time with your best friends. Part of the reason you like those people so much is your ability to you be yourself around them. It’s refreshing, and you feel better about yourself. So, why not spend more time with them? You might develop the habit of being yourself.

Isn’t it time be your true self? You’ve been living as a shadow of yourself for too long. Realize that life is short and being anything other than your true self is being less than you can be. Be brave and show the world who you really are.

How to build your self esteem by doing your thing.

How to build your self esteem by doing your thing.

On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your self esteem? Is it easy for you to be loud and proud and share with others your opinion? You work? How about your personal needs or preferences? Does your environment and home reflect who you are as a person? It is worth considering.

Take a deep breath.

Now I want you to Ask yourself: Who are you trying to impress?  Take just a moment and think about it. What is the first thing that pops into your mind? Your family? Your significant other? Your second grade teacher? If the answer is anyone but yourself then you need to stop seeking approval from others and begin to enjoy greater self-esteem by doing your own thing.

Approval-seeking behavior is self-sabotaging. It is exactly the opposite of being authentic. If you are seeking approval outside of yourself you are not paying attention to your inner voice, the voice of your authentic self. Besides, trying to impress others is exhausting and minimizes your own importance and individuality. The only person that you need to impress is yourself.

So if authenticity is one of your core values do you see how you would feel conflicted or like you were hiding something? Is the thing that you are hiding from others your SELF?

Free yourself from the need to receive approval from others:

  1. Speak up. Share your opinion. One symptom of approval-seeking behavior is the hesitance to share your own opinion. You worry that you might say something that the other person doesn’t like or doesn’t approve of and since it was your opinion, they might not approve of you either.
    • Give your opinion, even if it makes you uncomfortable. Start with smaller things. Do you think it will rain? Do you prefer red or white? Which movie would you like to see? Vanilla or chocolate?
  2. Avoid judging others. If you’re busy in your head being overly critical of others, you are not being fully present with what is going on before you. In this autopilot state of being it’s only natural that you assume others are the same towards you. This will tie you up in a knot. By training yourself to avoid this type of behavior, you’ll be less likely to make a negative assumption that everyone else is judging you. This strategy frees everyone up. Allow others to be as they are. It makes life more interesting. Sit back and enjoy the differences.
    • Notice your thoughts. Are you constantly judging others in a variety of situations?
    • Instill a habit to uplift and inspire others to find their way event if it is different than your own. Celebrate differences and perspective and watch the flow open up in your life.
  3. Beware of energetic manipulation and how you allow it. Realize that others can use disapproval can be used as a weapon. Many people use disapproval as a means of getting what they want. They may disapprove of your opinion, clothing, hairstyle, or anything else to enjoy the fruits of your submission. This is a form of energetic manipulation and once you become aware of the pattern it is up to you to break the cycle.
    • Call people on their disapproval of you. It is important that you stand up for yourself. Ask them to explain themselves if you are unclear about their stance. Remember that most negative people are looking for a victim, not a fight. When you stick up for yourself, many of the bullies disappear.
    • Knowing this can free you from seeking the approval of others. In many cases, they’re just in the game for themselves.
  4. Be aware of what happens when someone disapproves of you. Nothing happens. We seem to be born with an intense desire to fit in. But what actually happens when someone disapproves of you? The sky doesn’t fall on top of you. You might suffer from a little anxiety or embarrassment, but it passes. You are best served by learning energy tools to call back your energy to yourself and re-train negative thoughts in a more productive direction
  5. Do some things for yourself. If you’re constantly seeking approval, you’re not taking very good care of yourself. Adopt a daily practice of RADICAL Self Care. Show yourself that you’re important by focusing some of your time and energy on yourself. It might be a little bit uncomfortable at first. You might even feel selfish.
    • Make a date with yourself and schedule it in your calendar and honor it as an important obligation. This is sacred time for yourself and you are building a relationship with yourself. It is important that you know you are a priority in your life.
  6. Fill your life with things that are important. If you had to run across the street naked to save your dog’s life, you wouldn’t be worried about anyone’s opinion. That’s because your dog’s life is more important than your ego. But you don’t need a disaster to experience this.
    • Volunteer with an organization that’s doing important work in an area that you are passionate about.
    • Write a book that you believe will change peoples lives for the better.
    • Find ways to spend your time and energy on things you value.

By filling your life with people, activities and things that you value and are passionate about you will feel more ease in all areas of your life. You’ll find that you enjoy more freedom, more joy and genuine contentment in the other, less important, parts of your life.

Being overly concerned about the opinions of others is damaging to your self-esteem. Each time you seek approval outside of yourself, you’re diminishing your own self importance. Your opinion matters. Allow your individuality to be seen and experienced by others. Remember the old adage: “What other people think of you is none of your business.” It is only by embodying and aligning your highest self that you can feel the sense of approval you are searching for.

Creativity for Stress Relief

Creativity alleviates stress.

As life throws a challenging energy my way, I redirect the energy into my creative flow. My creativity is how I connect with my soul. To be in my creative flow is to be connected to my source.

I choose to respond positively when I am challenged in order to avoid feeling stressed. I clear away relationship and things that do not bring me joy and focus on creating a life I love.

My response to tough situations is connect to my deepest and most authentic self and to engage my creativity.

When I take time out to create something new, I feel like I am replacing negative energy with positivity. I use color and textures to express my mood.  Inspired activities in which I connect with my own creativity allow me to dig deep into my soul for a light that brightens the world.

Writing soothes my emotional burdens and releases my tensions. My writing keeps me connected to my imagination and the most magical part of myself.

My words both acknowledge and empower me. Being honest about my feelings is the first step to releasing their weight from my body and my energy. I follow up those open and honest words with words of empowerment and resolution. I strive to uplift and empower those around me. This is part of my creative process.

authentic voice

Whenever possible I exercise and connect to my voice. I love to vocalize and express myself through song. I love to sing fun and silly songs from my childhood. I love to sing songs that touch my heart. Expressing myself through song lifts my spirit. The lyrics and melodies that I write are therapeutic. My music flows through me.

My creativity pulls me out of the darkness and renews my spirit.

My artistry is a blessing. It builds me from the inside out. My courageous creativity fortifies my inner self to defend against any challenge in life. I create whatever I need in any given moment. The Universe provides all I need.

Today, I am blessed because I know the value of my creativity. My difficult situations are more manageable today because I spend time being imaginative. Being transported to another world through inspiration gives me a chance to rebuild.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. How else, other than through art, can I exercise my creativity?
  2. In what other ways am I able to alleviate stress?
  3. What value do I place on creativity?

Heal broken heart energy

Ouch! How do you heal a broken heart or heart trauma? Ever have an emotional trauma that hit you like a harpoon in the chest? Or maybe you are just extremely empathic and you dodge these daggers daily?

Here is this goddess’s recipe for healing a broken heart chakra.

Heal your broken heart with Energy Medicine www.askaeriol.com

Heal your broken heart with Energy Medicine
www.askaeriol.com

You are going to want to get yourself some support if you have had any major stress or emotional trauma whether it is heart related or not. Here are my favorite remedies for heart related emotional trauma’s.

Aromatherapy: I use Aromatherapy in my practice to heal and support the emotional body. Flowers are the Diva’s of nature. And let me just say, never underestimate the emotional clearing power of a targeted Diva!  Aromatherapy is nature’s little pick me up. Much more than just a wafting scent, these tiny plant life force molecules are so small that they absorb directly into the bloodstream and penetrate the blood brain barrier for an instant boost when you need it. Call on the goddess energy Maeve to help in this area. For shock or heart trauma I may use helichrysum to help with the shock and I also like Young Living Harmony Blend to calibrate and soothe the etheric energy bodies. If there is physical pain or tightness in the chest I might put just a tiny drop of jasmine to smoothe out the rough edges.

On a completely random aside: I recently got a humidifier and aromatherapy unit that plugs into my car! no more dry sinuses or empathic road rage and energy trauma while driving YAY!

Energy Medicine: Call in your Angels Masters and guides to assist you on an energetic level. I recommend getting some Hand’s On energy work perhaps integrated with massage by a trusted practitioner. Regardless of what modality your Practitioner uses nothing beats the nurturing and nourishing power of touch when our heart is wounded or hurting.

SELF CARE: As previously stated while you can do energy work and cultivate a daily practice, it is also important to seek an intuitive coach and healing practitioners to address any pain in the physical body.  Make sure to get a massage, get some nutritional support, see your chiropractor and or acupuncturist. Have an on the ground team and call on them frequently just as you would call on your angelic healing team.

Well, that’s all for today. Happy Healing. Please practice Radical Self Care during these crazy times when fear and anger is rising. Remember, only love is real.

I want to invite you to join my Facebook Group “Energy Activism Radical Self Care for a Better World” to get hot tips on Self Care and how to use energy healing to make the world a better place.

thanks!

Aeriol
